This is Stephen Wade's first collection of poetry and it displays strength and sensitivity in equal measure. The poet is aware of the historical pressures which make human beings act and react as they do, yet he does not lose sight of the intuitive. He is also at pains to be true to the sensuousness both of language and of the ordinary experience.
