Review: Beautiful Things, by Menno Wigman

Menno Wigman (1966-2018) was born in North Holland in the town of Beverwijk in 1966 and was one of the most respected and popular Dutch poets of his generation. A former poet laureate of Amsterdam, he attracted a wide audience or his books and readings. Wigman was also active as a musician and an editor and translated the work of Rilke, Baudelaire and others into Dutch, He published five full-length collections and won several major prizes. His poetry has appeared internationally in many magazines and anthologies and there are French, German and Spanish selections of’ his work. The first book-length publication of his poetry in the UK was Window-Cleaner Sees Paintings (Arc, 201 6).

Menno Wiginan’s collected poems, De poëzie van Menno Wigman, were published in 2019 by Prometheus.
