A very attractively-produced poetry collection. Liz Almond writes smoothly with a practised hand. In many of her poems, there's an obliqueness .... moments of sensuousness recalled... She seems to specialise in the afterwards.... She doesn't do movement and narrative. She does self, postures and settings as if in a painting perhaps by Whistler. Stillness prevails. She reflects, re-interprets. It's difficult to know where she is, geographically, emotionally or intellectually. It's good writing...
