[...] in a collection whose aim is to allow the English-speaking world to return to the work of an important European poet, whose material has clearly been cherry-picked from a prodigious body of work and translated with heightened consideration for readers in the receiving culture, it was a bit of a thrill to encounter what is, for the most part, a bleak and uncompromisingly macabre gathering.
