EDOUARD MAUNICK was born in Mauritius in 1931. He has been, successively, author and producer of radio programmes, TV presenter, editor of Jeune Afrique, a director at UNESCO and Mauritian Ambassador to Pretoria. Since 1954, he has published more than twenty collections of poetry, the most recent of which is 50 quatrains pour narguer la mort (Quatre Bornes, Mauritius & Seghers, Paris). Edouard Maunick has been awarded the Prix Apollinaire, and is a member of the Haut conseil de la Francophonie and a Chevalier des Arts et Lettres.
