HABIB TENGOUR was born at Mostaganem in 1947. Poet, writer and anthropologist, he has constantly moved back and forth between France and Algeria. Tengour has published both prose, notably Gens de Mosta (1997), which won the Prix Afrique Méditerranéenne / Maghreb, ADELF 1997, and Le maître del'heure, and poetry, including Traverser, Gravité de l'ange and La sandale d'Empédocle. Tengour currently works as a sociologist in the Essone, near Paris.
