Paul Clay

Paul Clay was born in Northampton, and went on to study for his BMus and MMus in composition at the RNCM, studying with Paul Newland and Anthony Gilbert. Paul's works have been performed by the London Sinfonietta, BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, Steve Martland Band and the Continuum Ensemble. Recent premieres include by degrees more closely by the RNCM Wind Ensemble, Wrong Bebop (sax and piano) at the World Saxophone Congress, Minneapolis and Gen for Bones Apart Trombone Quartet. He is currently working on new pieces for Ensemble 11 and Northampton School for Boys Wind Ensemble. As a music educator, Paul has run workshops independently in Liverpool, Edinburgh and Eastbourne, and with the SPNM in Manchester. He now works as Musician in Residence at St. Bedes School, East Sussex, where he teaches composition, trumpet, directs the jazz programme and coaches rugby.
