YMF Showcase, 2004
The Colman quartet are in their third year at the RNCM and have been playing together since October 2003. They competed in the Terence Weil String Quartet prize last year, and in January 2004, performed in the RNCM Quartet Fest. They recently performed Kurt Weill String quartet as part of the 'Gruber Resonances' festival. They have had masterclasses with distinguished musicians such as the Endellion quartet, Christopher Rowland, and Roger Bigley.
Zoe Colman (violin) studied with Wen Zhou Li at Chetham's School of Music from 1999-2001 before continuing her studies with him at the RNCM. She won the Norman George Violin Prize in 2002 and the Helen Porthouse Paganini Prize in 2003. Her violin and bow are on loan from the Benslow Musical Instrument Trust.
Jane Hunt (violin) is from Manchester and is studying with Wen Zhou Li. She attended Manchester High School for Girls before coming to RNCM. She has taken part in Bowdoin Summer Music Festival (2002, 2003) in Maine, USA, and The International School for Musical Arts held in Niagara, Canada.
Carmen Craven-Grew (viola) studied violin at the Yehudi Menuhin School with Natasha Boyaskya and now learns with Maciej Rawkowski. She was a finalist in the Norman George Violin Prize in 2003.
Christopher Murray (cello) comes from Whitley Bay and studied at Chetham's School of Music before joining the RNCM in 2001. He studies with Hannah Roberts, and won the Sir John Barbirolli Prize in 2003.
