Acclaimed by audiences and press for its powerful performances, the Duke Quartet has established itself as one of Britain's most exciting string quartets. At home with music of all genres, its dynamic and approachable style has won it a considerable following throughout the world. The Quartet's work ranges from classical concerts and recordings to work with dance companies and rock groups.
In the classical field, the Duke Quartet has performed at many UK venues, festivals and music clubs, and in recent years have appeared at the Bath Festival, at several of the BBC's composer-based festivals in London, as residents at the Dartington International Summer School, at the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival and at the Spitalfields Festival. In Europe the Quartet has performed in many notable venues and festivals such as the 38e Rugissants in Grenoble, the Kultuurcentrum in Bruges and De Singel in Antwerp.
They were quartet-in-residence at the Wexford Festival in 2000 and in 1999 performed at the Musique en Scènes festival in Lyon as well as making their Concertgebouw debut in Amsterdam. Further afield, the Quartet performs regularly in Colombia, has given several performances in San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York with Rosas dance company, and in 2000, toured South Africa, made its first tour of Japan, and were in residence at the Scotia Festival of Music in Canada.
