Guildhall School of Music and Drama
Anton Lyakhovsky was born in 1979 in St. Petersburg, Russia. He studied at the Special Music High School for Gifted Children (affiliated to the Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory) from 1988-1997, and then at the Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory, studying piano with Alexander Sandler. From 2001-2004 Anton studied as a postgraduate student with John Bingham at Trinity College of Music. Currently he is a fellow at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he studies with Ronan O'Hora.
Anton has won many prizes at international piano competitions, including the Emmanuel Durlet International Competition, the International London Piano, Duo and Ensemble Competition, the Virtuosi of the Year 2000 Festival, the Jacques Samuel Intercollegiate Piano Competition, and most recently the Fourth International Prokofiev Competition. In 2002 he won the prestigious Tillett Trust scholarship, and for his studies at Guildhall, he was awarded a scholarship from the Myra Hess Trust.
Anton has given recitals in the Purcell Room, at the Harlow Piano Festival, at Jacques Samuel Pianos in the Rush Hour Recital Series, at Bösendorfer UK in Hurstwood Farm Music 2004, and in the Small Hall of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic for four consecutive years.
