Sergio Pacheco was born in Portugal and began his trumpet studies at the age of nine with Paulo Silva. Already an experienced performer, in 2003 he came to the Royal College of Music to study with Paul Archibald and Andy Crowley, supported by Gulbenkian Foundation and RCM Scholarships. As a concerto soloist he has performed with the Artave Symphony Orchestra and the Gulbenkian Orchestra and most recently with the RCM Symphony Orchestra; as an orchestral player, his wide experience has taken him to the European Union Youth Orchestra, the Aproarte Symphony Orchestra, the Oporto National Orchestra and most recently the Aurora Orchestra. Sergio Pacheco has worked with many soloists and conductors including Bernard Haitink, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Sir Colin Davis and Andrew Litton.

Sergio Pacheco has been awarded several prizes including First Prize in Premio Jovens Musicos/RDP in 2001 and First Prize in I Concurso de Trompete de Castelo de Paiva in 2005. Forthcoming engagements include a performance of the Haydn Trumpet Concerto in March and a lunchtime concert for the Banstead Arts Festival in May.
