Laure Pinsmail was born in Alsace, France in 1978, and studied the piano in Mulhouse and Dijon before going to Aubervilliers-La Courneuve Conservatoire. During this time she was taught by Cécile Deneau and Filippo Antonelli. This culminated in a Diploma in Musical Studies in 1999, with a First Prize in Piano awarded with the jury’s unanimous congratulations, and a First Prize in Chamber Music awarded unanimously.
In October 2001, Laure obtained her Diploma in Professional Studies with Commendation at the Birmingham Conservatoire, and she is currently undertaking a year of Advanced Postgraduate Study with Professor Malcolm Wilson.
Laure has also received coaching from Noël Lee, Peter Donahoe, Andrew Zolinsky and Ronan O’Hora. In 1997, she was awarded a Second Prize of equal merit at the Rotary Club Young Talents competition in Beaune, France and in January 2001, she won the Birmingham Conservatoire Renna Kellaway Piano Prize. She has also most recently been awarded a full scholarship to study at the Franz Liszt Academy, Budapest, for the year 2002/3. Laure has recently formed a duo partnership – the Duo des Masques – with Maud van Thienen which is building a repertoire of contemporary commissions as well as the established works for piano four hands and works for two pianos.
