The Rossetti Piano Trio was formed in 1998 by students at the Royal Northern College of Music. The Trio is coached by Renna Kellaway, as well as working regularly with Christopher Rowland (Director of Chamber Music at the College) and Roger Bigley (Assistant Head of Strings at the College). It has appeared in masterclasses with Gordon Back, Karine Georgian and Marc Johnson of the Vermeer Quartet. The Trio performs throughout the country, with recent engagements including recitals in Derby, Kendal, Ambleside and Northamptonshire.

Philippa Jeffery started to play the violin at the age of 4, was a member of the Hampshire County Youth Orchestra, the first leader of the Hamphire County Youth Chamber Orchestra and studied on the Hampshire Specialist Music Course at Peter Symonds Sixth Form College, during which time she appeared as soloist in a number of performances in Winchester. Philippa is now in her fourth year at the RNCM, studying with Wen Zhou Li. She plays in the RNCM Symphony and String orchestras and leads the college Chamber Orchestra.

Philippa was a national semi-finalist in the BBC Young Musicians 2000, and has participated in masterclasses with Yehudi Menuhin, Yfra Neaman, Howard Davies, Joseph Fuchs and members of the Amadeus and Vermeer Quartets. She has attended the Cambridge Symposium for young string quartets and the Lake District Summer Music Course.

Nicholas Trugstad began his study of the cello at the age of 4 with John Dunham at MacPhail Center for the Arts in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In 1993 he started studying under Peter Howard, principal cellist of the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, and during this time was awarded First Place in the Schubert Club Scholarship Competition, First Prize in the Minnesota Sinfonia Young Artists Competition and First Prize in the Minnesota Youth Symphonies Concerto Competition.

In autumn 1998, Nick began his studies at the Royal Northern College of Music with Hannah Roberts. Since then he has received awards in the John Ireland Prize, Granada Prize and Weil Prize chamber music competitions at the RNCM.

Alice Turner studied the piano with Marlene Fleet from the age of 11 and attended Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester from the age of 13, studying with David Hartigan. Following completion of her undergraduate studies at the Royal Northern College of Music, Alice continues to have tuition from Renna Kellaway, former Head of Keyboard Studies at the RNCM.

Alice has participated in masterclasses with Gordon Back, Ronan O’Hora and Geoffrey Lancaster and has performed Mozart’s Coronation Concerto with the Rutland Sinfonia. She was recently awarded the RNCM’s Clifton Helliwell Memorial Prize for piano.
