[Viva! Sax Quartet]

Viva! Sax Quartet first met one another in Easter 2002 whilst attending a National Youth Wind Orchestra course and later formed the Quartet in September 2002 after the group was reunited at Trinity College of Music. The group have performed various concerts all over London and, although they have been together for a relatively short space of time, they have already made a big name for themselves.

Mathew Curtis began playing the saxophone at the age of twelve; now, eleven years later he is in his third year at Trinity College of Music, studying with Steven Cottrell. His recent achievements include being a finalist in the CASS Young Saxophonist Competition, Principal Saxophonist of the National Youth Wind Orchestra (2000-2002) and performing, along with the other members of the Quartet, at the 8th British Saxophone Congress in Cardiff.

Judith Wheeler was born in York in 1983 and has studied the saxophone from the age of eight. Having played in various orchestras and ensembles including the National Children's Wind Ensemble, the National Youth Orchestra and the National Youth Wind Orchestra, she is now in her first year at Trinity College of Music studying with Gerard McChrystal.

Victoria Rimmington is twenty-two years old and studying for a Postgraduate Diploma at Trinity College of Music with Gerard McChrystal. She was awarded a BSc in Mathematics and Music from the University of Southampton in 2002 and has played in a variety of orchestras and wind bands in Sussex and Hampshire. She is originally from Switzerland where she first picked up the saxophone twelve years ago.

Sophie Parkhouse took up the saxophone at the age of twelve and, following this, played with numerous ensembles including the National Youth Wind Orchestra. She also reached the final of the National Festival of Music for Youth three successive years with her previous quartet 'Double 'O' Sax'. She won a scholarship to Trinity College of Music where she is currently in her first year of study with Gerard McChrystal.
