Leeds College of Music Voices

directed by Jane Anthony

A cornucopia of vocal music through the ages from this mixed chamber choir – from Elizabethan madrigals to twentieth-century settings of Elizabethan texts, and from operatic choruses to African festive music – interspersed with solo songs (by Vaughan Williams, Warlock and Quilter) and duets (by Mendelssohn and Rossini). A veritable showcase of LCM's vocal talent.

Andy Hillier's Syncopated Seven

Andy Hillier (trombone, vocals), Andy Veale (trumpet), Damien Cook (clarinet), Alan McIntyre (piano), Gaz Parry (banjo), Xwan Lindenmeyer (sousaphone), Philip Steel (percussion).

An introduction for primary schools to New Orleans jazz by one of the liveliest, slickest, and most talented 'trad' bands around. Highly visual, funny and authentic. Will teachers wishing to bring a party of children please contact the YMF Office on 01706 817633.

Saxophonist Joel Purnell – who has made a big impact on the national jazz scene since leaving LCM some five years ago – joins with recent graduates, James Taylor and Garry Jackson, and undergraduates Rob Barron and Nick Smalley, in this entertaining and talented outfit for an evening of standards, jazz standards and original material. The very best in progressive jazz.

A Showcase of Indian Music and Dance

directed by Dharambir Singh

A display of the many different aspects of South Asian music in a performance by students of the Leeds Centre for Indian Music and Dance, an arm of the LCM. The programme, which features instrumentalists on sitar, santoor, tabla and a range of western instruments, with vocalists and Kathak dance, promises to be a thrilling experience for young and old alike.

Leeds College of Music Big Band

directed by Al Wood

The Big Band is made up of the best of the LCM's jazz students – the big band professionals of tomorrow – whose talent and enthusiasm is evident in this programme of classic arrangements of Woody Herman, Stan Kenton, Count Basie, Rob McConnell and Bob Florence, with a sprinkling of memorable songs in the big band setting to complete the evening.
